I am home.

and it is so good to hear it!

1 month.

Well. Right now I am in a fishing village on the coast of Peru. Nothing to unusual but I find myself looking back on this last year with a super nostalgia attitude. So much has changed, and yet in a way everything is the same. 1 year ago I was up in the Andy´s Mountains trying to find people I could help, people who´s lives I could change. I was pretty confused still, but just trying to focus on anyone that wasn't me. Last year I even forgot my birthday. I was studying the day after and realized that my birthday had come and gone with out a wink or sniff. I didn't even remember my own birthday. Life sure has been up and down. I can't begin to express, or put words to the feelings I have. This last year has been absolutely life changing. My life has been flipped upside down, left out in the rain, and dried again in the hot sun like the laundry here in Peru. I have been completely humbled to the ground with a language barrier and enough hospital visits to keep mom worried. But, on the other hand, built up again by love and family and friends that could never be placed by anything else. I can't say what I feel exactly but all I can say is I am so lucky. No, it sure is not luck. I am blessed! I am so happy and satisfied with my trip to Peru. It has changed my life forever and taught me things I could have never learned anywhere else. Over the next couple of months I plan on writing and publishing more of my thoughts about the whole adventure, but for now… before I get on that bus to head to my ¨home¨, I just wanted to ay thank you. Thank you to my Heavenly Father and Thank you to all my love ones. I love you and will see you soon!

Christmas CD

Hello My World.

So we came back to Trujillo to re-plan the next couple of weeks, and help some of the zones. I got this idea that I thought could be really successful and help the missionaries find more people to teach. I thought that we should record a Christmas CD. Make a bunch of beautiful gift cards, and as we meet new people we can talk to them about Christmas and the Savior. Then we could give them a gift card and tell them we have a free Christmas CD we would be happy to deliver to there house and share a brief message about Christ. The president loved the Idea. We designed the gift cards… We printed up 6000. I went right to work with the recording of the CD. I had a deadline of 24 hours… so I stayed up all night recording non-stop to finish so that we would be able to burn 6,000 copies the next day. It was quite a job!

The hard things about this whole project… was that by the time I was starting my body was already starting to shut down a bit. That sore I had from the last week in Cajamarca had moved back to my throat. I felt really sick the whole night, and was without strength. I started to get a really high fever but I really couldn’t stop recording. I worked through the whole night. I had horrible pains in my whole body, and could not stop sweating. I really wanted to rest but I knew that I couldn’t. I knew that finishing the CD was so important. If I didn’t finish we would not be able to get it distributed and so many people would miss out about hearing about the Savior this year. There was a point in the night when I just began to pray. I expressed my love and desire to finish the project. Just at that moment I felt an incredible peace. I knew that I was going to have the strength to finish. I began to pretend that my deadline in the morning was the actual birth of the Savior. I imagined how the wise men might feel as they traveled… I pictured what the Sheppard might have seen as the angel spoke as the birth of the savior was announced. I imagined that this CD, or the music I could make would be my gift for the baby. Thinking this way got me though the night, and made everything more real and more special. This really made my Christmas. It is extremely hard to be away from home during the holidays, but I sure found a new appreciation for Christmas and the music. As I walked home from the mission office where I had been recording I was so thoughtful. The night was so peaceful. I am so grateful for my knowledge of the Savior, and this beautiful time I have to serve him. As I lay in my bed that night… I was so exhausted. I could not help but weep. My body was broken, I had a burning fever, but I was so grateful to be able to spend the night praising Christ through the beautiful Christmas music.

I hope that everyone enjoys the Disk. I had a wonderful time making it. All in all I finished in 14 hours. It was all nuts. Now 6,000 people are going to be able to hear free Christmas Music and hear my Testimony and know how much I love the Savior. I am so glad it all worked out.

Heyyyyyy. Things are great and the time is moving faster then ever. Good news! I found my silver tooth that I had made a year ago up in the mountains in Cajamarca. It still fits great!

So sorry for the delay in writing an actual email. We sure have been busy. So here are the biggest changes. I am not serving in the mission office as teh financial secretary anymore. The last 3 weeks I have been training my re emplacement. He is a champ from Colorado and reminds me of a ton of my friends back home. We had a great time.

Also, in the last week or two I finished that CD i was working on. It has tons of sounds from Peru. I am going to put it online so you can all give it a check out. I feel really good about it, and am sure glad i had the opportunity to record on my last couple of Pdays.

So, my new assignment in the mission is going to be "touring artist" for the next six months of my mission I will be visiting all the areas around Peru and playing special devotionals. We will be spending 2 weeks in every stake. The first week will go to contacting leaders, setting up sound equipment, securing a place to play, and then contacting people out in the streets, and doing mini concerts to get people excited about coming out to the real concert. Then we are planning about 500-1200 people at every concert. We want to give a free CD of the program to all the people investigating. The hook is that we will write down there address and go personally deliver the CD to them during the 2nd week. I know it will be really successful because the people just react amazingly to music here. I am so excited. I got a nice thin little camera as well, so I will be taking more pictures. All and All things are amazing. Peru is incredible. One thing I have been trying to do lately is just talk exactly like the people talk. Its an absolute blast. I LOVE IT. Well i love all you and will see you in a jiffy pop... but until then TIME TO WORK!

happy october!

Its October! You know what that means? ITS THE TENTH MONTH OF THE YEAR!

I hate my weather gadget on my sidebar. Every morning, I check the weather in Reno, and somehow, Peru always has better weather. I'm so jealous. Right now, its a sunny 68 degrees with little cloud coverage. In Reno, its 60 degrees with no signs of blue and a killer wind chill that's sending all the geese away. Yes, I live on a lake with geese, ducks and swans. I hate them all.

WHOA WHOA WHOA X 300. As I sit here, chewing on a red bendy straw, I can say that I am shocked. A duck just flew right towards my window, and just before hitting it, a gust of wind came and made it hit the wall instead. I hope its okay! Okay, not really. I don't care about that duck. I would go out to check but a) ducks are gross, b) im comfortable in my chair, c) i'm happy it didn't hit my window [I am NOT paying to replace a broken window due to the stupidity of a duck] and d) i have three loads of laundry on my bed waiting to be folded. Feld? Feld sounds better than folded.

Bringing back the podcast...

Who knows if it will happen, but I found this podcast that I made from a year ago. Its hard to believe how fast time is flying, and how much things have changed. Things are going great here in Peru.

Ive been thinking... I sure need to set some goals before this beautiful mission passes me away. I think im going to make a goal to write in my journal everyday... is anyone with me? I love working on things with others... Does anyone else keep a personal journal?


Here is a little bit of my letter sent home for the week...

Holler Family and Loved ones.

How is everyone doing? Things are going great here in the Southern
Hemisphere. We are seeing blue skies with more and more frequency and
this makes people happy. When this Winter in Peru ends I am going to
have a full year of good weather. I cant wait!

We had a wonderful week. It all started on Monday with the family home
evening lesson that we had with a family. We taught Gorge Rojas and
his family. He is a little bit older, but has little kids. We taught a
quick lesson about sharing the gospel and then we asked if they had
any favorite games that they liked to play. They said that they
usually don't play many games for their family home evenings. I told
them about my family and how we loved to play... even the most silly
games. I told them how we would just turn out the lights and throw
balls at each other, or have sock wars. They laughed at that thought
and almost didn't believe me. So i secretly took my sock off under the
table and nailed one of the little kids in the face... The sock war
erupted and the fun began. It was fun to show them a tradition of my
family, and to teach them that they can have fun with each other
regardless of what the activity is.


About 3 weeks ago Sister Mora (the mission presidents wife) gave us a
soda pop bottle filled with home made yogurt. One of the other
missionaries stowed it away somewhere in the apartment, and I just
recently found it as I was cleaning. It had expanded and filled the
bottle with tons of pressure. So last night I snuck by the window, and
threw it outside. It exploded and made a horrible crash. A couple of
car alarms went off down the street. I am glad that it blew up outside
instead of inside our house. The dogs had cleaned up all the yogurt by
the time we woke up to play soccer.

The last couple of P-days I have been recording and we recently
finished one of the songs. Here is the link if you are interested in

Things are going great. Time is flying, and I am so greatfull for this
time i have to serve. Peru is
absolutely wonderful and its getting kind of sad to think that I wont
be here forever. I have fallen in love with this crazy place. I am
still in the mission office working, but I know that what I am doing
is very important and there is a reason why I am here. I have been
very blessed and am so greatfull for my time here.

i feel like i've taken over jason's blog

SOMEONE ELSE NEEDS TO POST BECAUSE I THINK I POST TOO MUCH. :) In any case, this will be an epic photo post!

I cannot believe it has already been over a week ago that I was on a plane to Washington with some of my best girls. I swear, the time has passed so quickly since I've been home that it is almost like it never actually happened. I am already back to the same routine of summer: wake up at 7:00am, go to work, get home and eat dinner, sleep. I probably wouldn't believe it all happened had I not had pictures of the whole thing.

Our first experience with a Washington native was our chauffer- and oh what the experience it was. Since there were four of us, we each had luggage and a duffel meaning we couldn't fit in a regular taxi. No van taxis were driving through and we spotted a limo taxi so we decided to find out how much their rates were. Between the four of us it was relatively cheap so we took the limo to our hotel. Our driver was named Deep (yes, you read that correctly) and he was beyond creepy. He asked us where we were from and when we said California his eyes lit up and said, "Ohh, wild and crazy California girls!" So. Not. Cool! Annie and I tried to get the blinder up but it wasn't working and he saw us and asked if we were trying to get it to work, but it was awkward so we just said, "No we're playing with all the buttons..." and then a couple minutes later the blinder went up so I was like, "Whoo spring break!" and pretended to lift up my jacket- and as my arms were in the air the blinder came back down and he was like, "OOO what are you girls doing back there?!" Ew. As soon as we got dropped off we left as soon as we could and he definitely asked if he could "borrow [Jaena] for a little bit." Gross.

Anyhow... we got to Jason's house Sunday night and after getting the grand tour, we all went outside to just bask in the beautiful night sky. I just sat on the dock staring up at the sky and wished the stars were so clear back home. We walk back inside and I just absorb myself in Jason's family photos, and all his old photos when he was a kid. Soo cute!

The next morning I go outside and explore the lake for a little while. Once we're all up we have a family breakfast with Jason's momma, Deanne, who showed us how to make homemade waffles with their new waffle iron and Annie prepared us some deliciousness. We listened to some amazing old tracks from the early Daphne years when Stu and Jason were in elementary and junior high school. Then she showed us awesome pictures of the awkward teenage years and the very beginnings of Daphne days. That whole morning was filled with awesome. The rest of our time spent in the Call household was spent taking camp photos in The Climbing tshirts and jumping on the trampoline. OH and Deanne also took us out on the lake. Absolutely stunning!

It took me a year and a half but I finally know who Tina Bolsen is. Jason- my mission is now complete :) We also saw some fantastic photos of the young DLD. And Snaggle Tooth. hahah. Oh, our time here was priceless.

Everyone is still asleep in the Call household... I just slipped out of what I am assuming used to be Jason's bed. The lake at night is absolutely stunning- it's something pictures just cannot do justice to.

Washington is treating me well. I'll post back soon, and it will be far more fruitful, I promise :)
